Kingfisha

Internationally renowned dub aficionados Kingfisha stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s best proponents of the genre. Sultry, expert, and undeniably infectious, the Kingfisha sound combines deep all-encompassing rhythms with a feather-light touch and an understated soul vocal.

Described as “unique as a fingerprint” by Scenestr and “completely fresh” by Rip It Up, the bands debut LP charted nationally across community radio with a swag of ‘Feature Albums’, TripleJ rotation, an Unearthed Roots win and a Queensland Music Award.

Kingfisha were well received on their first New Zealand tour with a spot on the Indian Ocean Music Expo in Reunion Island following shortly after. Festival appearances like these became Kingfisha's natural habitat and they were added to an illustrious list including Womadelaide, AWME, Bigsound, Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival, Rainbow Serpent, Earth Freq, Apollo Bay, Wide Open Spaces, Kuranda Roots and Island Vibe.

In 2015, Kingfisha, in collaboration with Canadian EDM label Westwood Recordings, flipped their dedicated roots vibe on its head by releasing the surprise Kingfisha Remixed EP. Featuring a varied roster of international producers, the project has amassed in excess of 250,000 plays on Soundcloud and the EP held the #1 spot on the Beatport Dub/Reggae charts for several weeks.

The bands first African tour in 2016 took them to Mozambique, Swaziland, South Africa and Reunion Island.  The following year brought the release of their sophomore record Offered It Up, and a European tour including spots on coveted festivals like Reggae Sun Ska (France), Rototom Sun Splash (Spain) and Boomtown Fair (UK).

With this exceptional run of success, an impeccable live show, and inked deals with Music Action Prod and Soulbeats Records (Europe), and ABC Music (Australia), Kingfisha are poised to make some major in-roads in an already stellar career.
